Shaker Style
Shaker style works well for a rustic look. Red cedar, pine, maple, hickory, reclaimed lumber, maple all look great in the shaker style. This style has a flat panel and each panel is constructed like a door: 5 pieces with space balls to allow for expansion/contraction of the wood panel. I can build this style out of any wood species.
Raised panel
Raised panel style is a more refined, classy look. Each panel is built as a door would be: 5 pieces with space balls to allow for expansion and contraction of the panel. Walnut, cherry, maple, hickory and white oak are my standards woods to use, but I can do custom builds out of any wood species.
"Typical" style
My "Typical" style simply has a solid wood panel for each side. Normally, a 20 x 20 is as large as i can get with a solid wood panel. A larger pedestal would require a "glue up" panel, and would be done as a custom order. Looks great for a rustic feel.
About
With over 20 years of experience as a cabinetmaker and custom furniture maker, I have chosen to focus on building taxidermy displays. As a hunter, I understand that you want to display your trophy in a way that enhances the animal and also wows your friends. Let me help you do that.
I primarily use a rustic grade wood, but also have No. 1 grade wood available. A minimum of three coats of a high end, cabinet quality finish is applied.
Some items are stock items that I try to keep available at all times, but most of my work is custom build. If you don't see exactly what you want, contact me. I am always happy to give a written estimate for that special custom piece to enhance your trophy display.
I am always working on new and different ways to display your trophy. Lately, I am receiving input from some of my taxidermists that the wives are getting involved in what would work with the home decor. Not a problem. Do you have an idea for that one of a kind display that wows your buddies? Get in touch with me. we'll design something awesome!
